From the factory, Subaru has included a delay valve in the slave cylinder on all manual Subaru performance models since 2006. This valve is great for those who are new to driving a manual transmission as it adds a layer of forgiveness if you let the clutch pedal out too quickly, however, the valve also blurs the engagement point of the clutch which makes it frustrating and unpredictable to get going from a stop.

Thankfully, getting rid of the factory delay valve is extremely straight forward, only taking 30 minutes or so.
